YTD Video Downloader

The trouble with using screen-recording Software to Capture
streaming video is that you have to play the stream while you record it. If the
stream breaks up or your browser crashes, you have to start the recording
again. YTD Video Downloader, formerly known as YouTube Downloader, pauses and
resumes downloads if you temporarily lose your connection. It doesn't just save
from YouTube - you can download videos from Vimeo, Blip.tv and other popular
video sites simply by copying the video's URL into the YTD window. It downloads
videos to your Desktop as MP4 files, and then lets you convert them to VVMV, AVI or MP3 format.
There are
plenty of other programs, add-ons and websites that claim to download streaming
video and capture MP3 from YouTube, but be very careful with these tools,
especially now that Google has removed all YouTube-video-downloading add-ons
from the Chrome web store (although plenty are still available for Firefox).
Some of them are very dodgy and will infect your PC with malware or attempt to
redirect you to scam sites. Also, look closely when clicking large Download
buttons. They're often not part of the website you're visiting, but link to
adverts or worse.
RECORD VOICE NOTES
Evernote
Min requirements: Windows/Android/ iOS
Evernote is the note-taking tool that lets you save notes,
lists and clippings, and sync them securely between devices. Your notes don't
have to be written down - just talk to your phone or computer and save the
result as an audio file. If you're at your computer, click the New Note arrow
and select New Audio Note. On your phone, tap the plus Sign to start a new
note, then tap the record icon. When you tap 'stop’ to finish. Evernote
automatically attaches the recording to a new note. You can then add a title
and description. Your audio notes can be as short or as long as you like,
although there's a two-hour limit if you're using the free version.
RECORD IN YOUR BROWSER
Screenr
Min requirements: Chrome/Firefox/ Internet Explorer
Screenr records your screen activity in much the same way as
CamStudio. but you don't have to download anything other than the occasional
Java update. Just go to the Screenr website. select an area on your screen that
you want to record, and click Record. The maximum recording time is five
minutes, so it's best for capturing PC problems, webcam clips and music videos,
but not streaming TV programmes. Click the stop button to Save recordings to
your Screenr account and get a link for sharing. You can also export your
recording as an MP4 file or upload it to YouTube.
TAKE CUSTOMISED SCREENSHOTS
JingProject
Min requirements: Windows XP/Vista/7/8
This free software can capture your screen as a video or
still screenshot that you can then share or upload to a screencast.com account.
The screenshot tool is particularly impressive and lets you add arrows, text
and highlights to your images, with all manner of font options and decorative
styles. You can undo and redo your work until you're happy with the result,
which is then saved to your clipboard so that you can paste it directly into an

CAPTURE A WEBCAM STREAM

This browser-based capture tool records whatever your webcam
can see, and perks it up with some amusing effects. The default screen shows
four basic effects, but there are more than 50 others to choose from, simply by
clicking the left and right arrows at the bottom-left of the screen. Click one
that you like, then click the red button to start recording. You can play your
recording immediately in your browser or download it as an FLV (Flash) file for
°mailing or uploading to Facebook or YouTube.
